Wonder held in a Bluebirds Heart

Acrylic on canvas | 101cm (W) × 121cm (H) × 3.5cm (D) | Ready to hang

ARTWORK STORY // DESCRIPTION

A rush of deep blue sweeps across a pale canvas like a flock suddenly taking flight. Peach,

cream and charcoal gestures cross its path.

Wonder Held in a Bluebird’s Heart finds tenderness within movement. The open background

allows each energetic stroke to breathe, while the darker passages give the composition its

heartbeat.

The dark strokes seem to gather and scatter in the same instant. Against their force, the lighter

peach and cream passages act like flashes of tenderness, keeping the composition from

becoming severe. Slender lines stretch beyond the denser gestures, as though the movement

continues outside the canvas.

A bluebird is often associated with happiness, but this painting gives wonder a more

complicated energy: quick, fragile and impossible to hold still. Its contrast between open light

and concentrated movement lends an expressive character to a modern interior.

The bluebird of the title is not presented as a neat emblem of happiness. Instead, wonder

appears fragile and in motion, caught between dark strokes and lighter flashes. That complexity

makes the painting more moving than a simple celebration of joy.

There is an almost musical quality to the way the marks gather and disperse. A sudden dark

passage is followed by an opening, a moment of weight by a feeling of lift. Wonder Held in a

Bluebird’s Heart suggests that hope can be lively, vulnerable and beautifully difficult to contain.

It is a lyrical abstract about fleeting wonder and the courage of small things.
