Where The Water’s Deepest
Acrylic on canvas | 91cm (W) × 91cm (H) × 3.5cm (D) | Ready to hang
ARTWORK STORY // DESCRIPTION
At the centre of Where The Water’s Deepest is a quiet pool of light. Around it, rings of navy, icy
blue and white turn like currents around a hidden opening.
Speckled marks drift across the circular movement, suggesting bubbles, stars or sea spray. The
composition offers two experiences at once: the pull of deep water and the calm of finding a still
centre.
The pale opening at the centre gives the eye somewhere to rest, even as the surrounding rings
appear to rotate. Dark blue passages create a feeling of depth, while lighter sweeps catch the
imagination like reflected light beneath a moving surface. Fine speckles keep the composition
from becoming too perfectly controlled.
The title hints that the greatest discoveries may lie below what is immediately visible. This
square artwork offers a meditative presence, particularly in a calm interior where its circular
movement can become a quiet point of attention.
The circular motion suggests descent, but the centre remains light enough to draw the viewer
towards it. Darker blues create a sense of distance from the surface, while scattered pale
marks recall suspended particles catching light underwater. The effect is immersive without
becoming a literal underwater illustration.
The title Where the Water’s Deepest gives the painting an emotional dimension. Depth may
refer to the ocean, but it can also suggest memory, feeling and the parts of ourselves that are
not immediately visible. The work becomes an invitation to look beyond the first impression and
remain curious about what lies beneath.
Its circular energy makes a contemplative focal point in a modern interior.
