There it is (Marilyn Monroe series)

Acrylic on canvas | 61cm (W) × 91cm (H) × 2cm (D) | Ready to hang

ARTWORK STORY // DESCRIPTION

There It Is captures the quick flash of recognition that turns a face into an icon.

The Marilyn portrait plays with the viewer's familiarity: we think we know the image, then notice

how a new treatment can alter its mood. The result feels immediate, witty and self-aware.

Recognition is almost instantaneous when we see an image as famous as Marilyn's. Yet that

first moment can be deceptive: after the familiar features, the viewer begins to notice the

particular artistic treatment and the mood it creates.

The title captures that flash of discovery, while also suggesting the humour of pointing

something out that everyone already knows. A lively portrait for an interior that enjoys clever

visual references.

There It Is captures the instant of recognition, when something familiar appears and the mind

names it before we have time to look closely. Marilyn’s image makes that reaction almost

unavoidable.

11 ART STUDIO | ORIGINAL ARTWORK COLLECTION

The painting encourages a second look beyond the initial recognition. What mood does this

particular portrait carry? What does the artistic treatment add to a face already seen so many

times? The title’s conversational simplicity gives those questions a light, witty quality.

An engaging focal point in a contemporary collection of portraiture.
