ARTWORK STORY // DESCRIPTION

Presence is about the moment a space changes because something—or someone—has

entered it.

The abstract gestures assert themselves with confidence, drawing the eye into a field of layered

energy. Its strength comes from the tension between scattered marks and the composition they

hold together.

Some paintings invite you closer; this one seems to announce itself from across the room. Its

overlapping gestures create a feeling of arrival, as though an invisible force has disturbed the

surrounding stillness. Yet the individual marks remain part of a larger, carefully held

composition.

The title is deliberately open: presence might mean a person, a memory or simply the energy

that makes a place feel inhabited. This confident abstract can anchor a room with a strong

sense of character.

Presence can be felt before it is understood. A person enters a room; an atmosphere changes; a

memory suddenly becomes vivid. The painting translates that elusive sensation into a

concentration of energy that seems to reach beyond its own edges.

Its abstract marks do not tell us what has arrived, and that uncertainty is important. Presence

allows the viewer to decide whether the feeling is powerful, joyful, mysterious or deeply

personal. The work asks us to recognise the emotional force of something we cannot fully

name.

A statement piece with an immediate, unapologetic character.
