Fruit At The Lighthouse

Acrylic on canvas | 91cm (W) × 122cm (H) × 3.5cm (D) | Ready to hang

ARTWORK STORY // DESCRIPTION

Fruit At The Lighthouse brings the familiarity of a still life into an imagined coastal setting.

The title sets up an unexpected meeting between domestic abundance and the distant promise

of a guiding light. It encourages the viewer to notice the poetry of ordinary objects placed in an

extraordinary context.

The title creates an unexpected story before the viewer has even studied the canvas. Fruit

belongs to the intimate world of kitchens and tables; a lighthouse belongs to distance, weather

and safe passage. Their meeting suggests a small domestic moment set against a much larger

coastal imagination.

The painting invites the viewer to connect familiar comforts with the romance of travel. Its

distinctive subject makes it a natural conversation starter in a dining room or coastal-inspired

home.

The meeting of fruit and a lighthouse feels like the beginning of an eccentric little story. One

belongs to the everyday pleasures of taste and colour; the other stands against distance, wind

and the sea. The painting brings these worlds together without needing to explain why.

That unexpected pairing gives Fruit at the Lighthouse a dreamlike humour. It encourages the

viewer to invent a setting, a journey or a memory of their own. The work has the charm of a story

whose most interesting details are left unsaid.
