ARTWORK STORY // DESCRIPTION

Autumn does not arrive quietly here. Red, rust and yellow marks gather at the base of the

canvas, then leap upwards into a pale, almost wintry blue.

The slender looping lines suggest branches shaken by wind; the scattered flecks could be

leaves caught between seasons. There is exuberance in the movement, but also the familiar

melancholy of summer slipping away.

The generous horizontal space is important to the experience: the eye travels through a thicket

of fiery marks before finding the quieter sky above. Nothing is fixed or orderly. Curving trails rise,

fall and disappear among smaller flecks, capturing the way wind can make an ordinary

landscape suddenly theatrical.

There is warmth here, but not the easy warmth of summer. It is the richness of a season

preparing to let go. Hung above a sofa or long console, the painting can become a vibrant focal

point while its pale upper register leaves the room feeling open.

The striking division between the pale blue upper field and the fiery activity below makes the

painting feel like a change in weather unfolding before our eyes. Even the smallest flecks

participate in that shift, as if the air itself has become restless.

Autumn Storm is especially compelling because it never settles on a single mood. It is bright

and exuberant at first glance, yet its title introduces the wistfulness of things passing. That
