Attention (Marilyn Monroe series)

Acrylic on canvas | 61cm (W) × 91cm (H) × 2cm (D) | Ready to hang

ARTWORK STORY // DESCRIPTION

Attention does not ask politely to be noticed. Marilyn's direct presence gives this portrait its

charge.

The work explores the power of a gaze and the strange intimacy of an image known by millions.

Beneath its pop-cultural familiarity lies a question about who is looking—and who controls the

moment.

Attention can be admiration, scrutiny or a demand to be seen. With Marilyn as its subject, the

word becomes especially charged. Her image draws the viewer immediately, yet it also raises

questions about fame and the expectations placed upon a public figure.

The painting's strength lies in that double meaning: the portrait commands attention while

quietly asking what attention costs. A compelling choice for a modern interior where art is

expected to be visually confident and thought-provoking.

Attention is an especially revealing title for a portrait of Marilyn. Her image has attracted

generations of admiration and scrutiny, making visibility both a source of power and a burden.

The painting draws on that complicated relationship between subject and audience.

11 ART STUDIO | ORIGINAL ARTWORK COLLECTION

The viewer is asked not only to look, but to think about looking itself. Who receives attention,

who controls it and what remains unseen? This gives the portrait an intriguing psychological

dimension beneath its immediate pop-cultural appeal.

A confident final note to the Marilyn series and a compelling centrepiece in its own right.
